Descents and Detours

Don’t place your mistakes on your head, their weight may crush you…Instead, place them under your feet and use them as a platform to view your horizons.

Seat backs and tray tables are in their upright position.

You leave terra firma and the anticipation of your destination fills you with excitement. You rise like a phoenix above the clouds and the horizon is all yours. Auto pilot is on and you’re cruising smoothly at 30,000 feet without a care in the world.

But then…

The tower says conditions are such that you’ll need to detour from your desired destination. An unscheduled layover is necessary.

That. wasn’t. the. plan.

You once again take charge of the controls. The detour is unexpected, undesired and uncharted. Anxiety increases as you begin the descent.. The clouds are thick and it’s impossible to see where you’re going. But soon, the horizon appears again and you can focus on getting everyone safely to the alternative destination.

There’s no way of knowing how long the layover will be. But soon, new flight plans will be created and new horizons will be waiting.

The photo? Taken out my window on our flight to Florida to visit the kids and grand loves. It was dark thirty when we left, but the sunrise was framed so nicely around the plane’s wing, I couldn’t resist.
