The Value of Time

Textures by Kim Klassen

Time. We can waste it, make it, pass it, track it and kill it. And we all want to have quality time. Sometimes the time is ripe, but often, it’s just a matter of time before something does or doesn’t happen. In the meantime, we try to have the time of our lives. We’re told to take time to smell the roses, that it heals all wounds and mends broken hearts. We’re told time will tell, and that a stitch in time, saves nine. We take one day at a time and believe time is money. We want the once upon a time fairy tale but know that times, they are a changin’. We live in the best of times and the worst of times, and most of us wonder about the end of time.

But, there’s no time like the present.

Time is a lot of things, but one thing is certain…every second of our day, we’re losing time. How many of us have put off something while thinking we have lots of time to take care of it later? The caveat is, nothing in the future is predictable. We may have all the time in the world…or we may not.

So let’s all make the time to take care of those really important things that make a difference in our lives…and in the lives of those we love. Need to forgive and mend a relationship? Tell our spouse, children/siblings/parents that we love them? Go out of our way to help a friend/neighbor? Pay forward a kindness?

Let’s do it today…before our time is up.
